Nothing is Random.

I have been doing some soul searching, more like searching for God and what his intentions for my life are, so I have been watching a lot of sermons, just trying to understand who God truly is and I came across one of Pastor Stephanie Ike’s old sermons titled “ Trusting God in Uncertainty” and she said something pretty interesting about Deja Vu and God. Previously these are two concepts I would not necessarily put together but I think I first needed to understand the true nature of God to grasp this concept.

I think that most of us are aware of the concept of Deja Vu, it is almost an out of body experience, where you feel like you have done or been somewhere before right. So here is what Pastor Stephanie had to say about this, she was preaching about why we need to trust God in uncertainty and she emphasized her point by saying that in moments of uncertainty, we tend to feel like God is not listening and we may feel lost in moments where we do not hear God’s voice and it could be hard to trust that the Lord truly has a plan for us as promised in the scripture Jeremiah 29:11.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future

And we know that God also says this in

Jeremiah 1:5 KJV

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

So Pastor Stephanie proceeds to say that, sometimes when we are feeling lost, we feel like things are just random and we are just going about our day as per usual consumed in our duties, and sometimes not realizing those are the times God is talking to us because we have tuned him out because we are so consumed by what we have to do and not giving him a moment but expecting him to speak.

Now Pastor Stephanie, emphasized how God already planned out your life, each and every step, even the ones that feels random and she compared it to deja vu, where you could be walking down the street and maybe you see someone you have never seen but you feel like you have and she said that because God already knows the plans he has for us, perhaps Deja Vu is God is giving a glimpse or confirming that your steps have been ordained by God, therefore nothing in your everyday life is random.

Take the time to think about it, think about how intentional we would be if we did not think of anything that we did as just random. And maybe it does not necessarily apply to when things are going great in your life because then it is easier to pray and worship the Lord, but think about how difficult and trying it is to trust God when things do not seem to be going your way and how easy is it to just give up, rule out the voice of the Lord, when in fact, that is when we should really press in.

If a concept like Deja Vu, that is normally taken as a random thing can be seen as God showing you that you are heading in the right direction, then surely we cannot still think that God is not speaking to us, it is true that there are time when God is silent but that is normally when we already know the answer to whatever situation we are in. I cannot tell you how many times I have asked God to confirm things for me that I already had the answer to, it is just that I did not particularly want that answer but it is God’s Word to me and all I have to do is obey, for my good.

When I say that nothing is random, all I am saying is that there are a million and more ways that God communicates with us and all we need to do is to acquaint ourselves with God, have a true relationship with him and most of all be honest with God in good and bad times and you will see the all the beautiful ways He will reveal himself to you and truly speak to you, because at the end of the day, the Lord wants to have that precious relationship with you, he wants to see you succeed and even in times, when God allows things that aren’t so nice to happen to you, He is still there with you, holding your hand and guiding you because most of all, He is a loving and faithful God.

Happy Sunday,

Zenani
